THE 9 MERIT AWARDS
There are nine (9) different merit badges, each related to a career, hobby, or skill. They are aimed at helping a Cadet discover his/her abilities and interests as he/she explores the merit badge subjects. They also help him/her become proficient in the areas of service to others and personal fitness. Merit badges demand more than skill awards. They can lead a Cadet into adult careers.
