Telesforo Daniel Flores

Telesforo Daniel Flores was born on January 2nd, 1959 to Mrs. Daniela Flores nee Castillo and Mr. Eleuterio Flores in Seine Bight Village, Stann Creek District. Belize, C.A.

Mr. Flores Speaks Garifuna, Spanish, English and Creole.

Mr. Telesforo Daniel Flores attended St. Alphonsus R.C. Primary School (1964 - 1972) and Stann Creek Ecumenical High School (1973 – 1977) where he acquired a diploma and 5 Ordinary Level passes in the General Certificate of Education. He entered the teaching profession in August, 1977. He sat and passed the First Class Teacher’s Exam in 1998. Mr. Flores fulfilled the admission requirements for Belize Teachers’ College Diploma Programme and gained admission in 1978. He pursued the three year course and passed the two year intramural and the year of internship to the satisfaction of the College and the Joint Board of Teacher Education based at the University of the West Indies Institute of Education.

Mr. Flores was awarded his Teachers’ Diploma in 1981.

Mr. Flores was awarded a six-week Summer Course in 1988 at the University of North Florida where he acquired a Certificate of Educational Administration.

 

As a teacher for the past 29 years, he has had the privilege of working with several communities. He has also served as Principal/Vice Principal of Maya Center, Caledonia, Xaibe, Concepcion, and Patchakan R. C. Schools.

 

Telesforo Flores served the Corozal Town Council as a Town Councilor for the People’s United Party from 2003 - 2006.

 

He has been a Leader of The Search Catholic Youth Group (1973 – 1982), The Belize Scout Association (1988 – 1992), Belize Police Youth Cadet Corp (since 1996), Secretary for the Corozal Rural Branch of Belize National Teachers’ Union (1993 – 2005), and Secretary for The National Neighbourhood Watch Task Force (2004 – 2006).

Mr. Flores was awarded a Warrant to form the 4th Corozal Scout Troop in San Narciso Village, Corozal District in 1990, became Group Scout Leader of Corozal First Rotary Scout Troop from 1990 – 1992, and led a delegation to the Connecticut International Scout Camporee in 1992.

As a Town Councilor, Mr. Flores focused youth development, collaborated with organizations and improvement of municipal traffic control and security.

Mr. Telesforo Flores spends his free time formatting and printing booklets and thesis for college and university students; writing reports for schools and organizations; voluntarily training cadets; music tutoring; camping; gardening and patrolling the neighbourhoods as a COP (Citizen on Patrol).

As a Youth Leader, he focuses on spreading human rights, community service, education, youth development, survival skills, and spirituality.

Mr. Flores has been residing in Corozal Town since 1982. He is married to Diane Kaye Flores nee Thomas and has four children, Aaron, Kachiri, Elisha and Kiwani.
